The Nelson Reflections synchronized swimming team was on cue at their first competition in Kelowna last weekend.
Two groups of 11 swimmers took part for the Reflections, who impressed the judges and crowd with their routine. Nearly 100 athletes from Prince George, Kelowna, Kamloops, Vernon and Revelstoke also took part.
The Reflections had three girls in the top-10 compulsory figure event. Kaitlyn Fitchett finished fifth, Cadence Hergott was eighth and Nicole Sonnichsen followed in ninths.
One of the Reflections teams was made up of junior swimmers coached by Brooke Madore. It included Isla DuPont, Carley Pattyn-Fiander, Ashley Sonnichsen, Brooke Sonnichsen and Sophie Falk.
The team is focused on training for the B.C. Summer Games in 2018. A new session of synchro begins April 12 and runs until June 16.
The team practises at the Nelson and District Community Complex on Wednesday and Friday from 4 to 5:15 p.m. For more information, contact Erin at firstname.lastname@example.org or visit nelsonreflections.com.
