Nelson Minor Hockey product Isaac MacLeod won’t get a taste of the Frozen Four this season. Friday night in St. Louis, MacLeod’s Boston College Eagles were upset 8-4 by the Colorado College Tigers in the opening round of the NCAA hockey championship tournament.

Ranked third in the nation and the defending NCAA champions, the Eagles jumped out to an early lead but then it was all Tigers. Led by Tigers freshman and St. Louis Blues draft pick Jaden Schwartz, Colorado College dominated the Eagles.

Boston College came into the NCAA tournament fresh off a Hockey East title and were riding an eight game winning streak. The upstart Tigers had not beat Boston College since 1967. The tournament is single knock-out.

MacLeod, a freshman at Boston College, played in the majority of the Eagles games this season. The big defenceman was not in the line-up on Friday night.

Colorado College will play the University of Michigan tonight in St. Louis. The winner gets a berth in the coveted Frozen Four tournament which takes place next month in St. Paul, Minnesota.
