Simon Nemethy scores winner as Nelson Leafs even series against Castlegar

Simon Nemethy scored the winning goal as the Leafs beat the Castlegar Rebels 3-2 on Wednesday in Nelson to even their first-round playoff series at a game apiece.

Nemethy’s goal came just over a minute after Lane Goodwin tied the game for Nelson 28 seconds into the third period. Tyler Pisiak also scored for the Leafs, who rallied from a 2-0 deficit. Dylan Marshall allowed two goals on 11 shots in net for Nelson.

Nathan Dann scored twice for Castlegar, while goaltender Ethan Lawczynski stopped 22 shots.

The series now moves to Castlegar for Game 3 on Friday and Game 4 on Saturday. Game 5 will be played in Nelson on Monday.
