Solid outing for Arcuri

Nelson’s Carson Arcuri used home turf advantage over the weekend to force a playoff at the Granite Pointe stop of the West Kootenay Junior Golf Circuit on Sunday.

Nelson’s Carson Arcuri used home turf advantage over the weekend to force a playoff at the Granite Pointe stop of the West Kootenay Junior Golf Circuit on Sunday.

The 13 year old fired an 87 at the Rosemont course and ended up tied with Rossland/Trail Country Club’s Braden McKay in the 13/14 year old division.

Though Arcuri lost to McKay on the second playoff hole, it’s the best result of the season for the Granite Pointe member.

Rossland/Trail’s Brenan Moroney claimed the overall title on Sunday shooting an impressive six-under 66 and cruising to a 10-shot victory over Kevin Bennett of Rossland’s Redstone Resort.

Other Granite Pointe golfers taking part in the home stop included Nolan Taylor (85), Nolan Renwick (93) and Alex Breen (113).

On Saturday the circuit stopped in Nakusp where Tyler McKay of Rossland/Trail captured the overall title after shooting a 69.

Granite Pointe players included Taylor (79), Arcuri (90) and Renwick (93).

The junior golf circuit travels to Redstone Resort tomorrow and then hits Rossland/Trail on Sunday.
