Lauren Taylor and her Portland State University teammates have positioned themselves to win a Big Sky Conference women’s championship title heading into the third round of the event in Ocotillo Golf Resort in Arizona.
After two rounds of the 54-hole event, Portland State leads the team tournament and Nelson’s Taylor sits tied for tenth.
After day two Tuesday, the Portland State Vikings held a 10-stroke lead over Northern Arizona. If the team holds on for the win today, they will advance to the NCAA West Regional championships.
Taylor — who is a freshman at Portland State — opened the tournament with a 43 in the first nine, but rebounded with a 36 on the back. On Tuesday she was back in form going two-under on the back and finishing with a one-over 73.
