Sixteen teams were on the rink last weekend at the Nelson Curling Club for the annual Doug Bothamley Memorial Open Cash Spiel.

Fred Thompson came out on top of an all-Nelson final at the Doug Bothamley Memorial Open Cash Spiel on Sunday.

Thompson's rink, which includes lead Richard Faunt, second Rob Norbert and third Don Freschi, defeated Nando Saviulo's team in the A final on Sunday to take home $1,960.

It's the second straight year Thompson has won the event after competing with Bob Ursel's rink in 2015.

Sixteen rinks from Nelson, Castlegar, Cranbrook, Creston, Trail, Vernon and Spokane competed in the tournament at the Nelson Curling Club, with over $12,000 in cash handed out.
