Two gold for Kootenay Chaos at club cross-country provincials

The Kootenay Chaos cross-country track team won two gold medals at the club provincials on Oct. 22 in Surrey.

Nelson’s Matti Erickson returned from the University of Oregon, where he competes with the track team, to win gold in the men’s under-20 eight-kilometre event in 25 minutes three seconds. Erickson was a minute ahead of the runner up in the 27-athlete field.

Dawson Abraham also captured gold in the under-14 boys’ three-km race with a time 10:24.

Other results for the club included Aleah Smith’s 10th-place finish in the U16 women’s three-km race, Mitchell Erickson earning a 12th-place result in the U18 men’s five-km, and Avran Fisher finishing 31st in the girls’ three-km race.
