Dylan Walchuk and the Vernon Vipers head to Alberta down 2-1 to the Spruce Grove Saints in the Doyle Cup final.

In the opening game of the series that pits the BCHL champion against the AJHL champion, the former Nelson Junior B Leafs standout scored once to help pace his team to a 3-1 Game One victory.

In Game Two the Vipers held the edge in shots, but Saints goaltender Vincenzo Marozzi was again stellar helping the visitors to a 3-2 win.

For the third game in a row the Vipers outshot the Saints, but in Game Three on Sunday night fell 5-3.

The series now shifts to Spruce Grove — a community just west of Edmonton — for the remaining four games. Game Four goes Wednesday night.

Riding a hot goaltender, the Saints home arena is aptly named after former NHL superstar Grant Fuhr.
