The 15U West Kootenay Kestrels baseball team comprised of players from Nelson-Trail-Castlegar won the 15U AA Slugfest Tournament held in Cranbrook in early July.

The three day tournament featured teams from Calgary, Cranbrook, West Kootenay, and Grand Forks. The Kestrels won the tournament with a 7-3 win over the Calgary West team.
