The Whitecaps sent three teams of players from the Kootenays to a tournament in Seattle last weekend.

Kootenay soccer players held their own at a competition in Seattle last weekend.

The Whitecaps sent three girls teams made up of players from Nelson, Cranbrook, Trail, Castlegar, Invermere, Grand Forks, Fernie and Kimberley to the event, where they played showcase teams from elsewhere in Canada as well as the United States.

The under-18 team finished with two wins, a tie and a loss, while the U17 squad won twice and tied twice.

A U16 team, meanwhile, tied three times and lost once.
