Whitewater skiers win big at Junior Freeski Open

Mason Scott and Cayenne Caney were among the local skiers to win trophies at the Junior Freeski Open last weekend at Whitewater Ski Resort.

Scott captured the boys 15-18 year division with a score of 68.20, only .13 points ahead of his Whitewater teammate Adam Kuch.

Caney, meanwhile, dominated the girls 15-18 division by cruising to a win five points ahead of runner-up Cedar Cameron-Harding of Revelstoke.

Whitewater athletes also took first place in both 12-14 divisions. Wyatt Atkins won the boys side, while Jaime Moynes eked out a win in the girls competition.

In the under-12 boys division, Red Mountain’s Rudy Steeves held off Whitewater’s Milan McLorie, while Gemma Leishman took first place in the girls division.
