The Whitewater Ski Team is celebrating our hill’s return to full operation. We are grateful for all the hard work from the resort through these tough times.

With the season well underway, we’re excited to share some recent updates:

Rylie Clark qualified for the 2023 Canada Winter Games this February in Prince Edward Island. Rylie will be skiing on the B.C. team and is currently the fourth fastest female in B.C. Only the top seven under-16 girls in the province are going. Rylie has made Whitewater Ski Team history as the first athlete from our team to qualify for this event. Congratulations Rylie!

Flynn Tracey and Quin Clark qualified for the BC Winter Games this March in Vernon. Qualification to represent the Kootenay Zone was more difficult this year due to the missed Games in 2022. Only eight athletes per gender from a combination of U14 and U16’s were selected. Congratulations Flynn and Quin!

Our two FIS athletes Raleigh Robertson and Madison Clark have been busy with school exams and several days of racing at Kimberley Alpine Resort. Both participated in the super-G, and Raleigh added the night slalom and downhill events. FIS is the fastest age group for ski racing. Our athletes are racing in the U19 category and there are some of the fastest adult racers in Canada at these events.

The U16’s just returned from a big week away at Sun Peaks for the first province-wide race of the season.

The U14’s have had a busy travel schedule, and most recently returned from the Tech Kootenay Zone Race at Fernie Alpine Resort. These athletes are looking forward to spending most of February skills training at Whitewater and Salmo Ski Hill.

The U12’s have been honing their race and hosting skills with a recent friendly time trial with the RED Mountain Racers at Whitewater. They also raced at the Tech Kootenay Zone Race at Fernie Alpine Resort.

Last but certainly not least, our tireless program director Dylan Henderson and the legendary Bobby Swan competed in the Canadian Masters Championship at Kimberley Alpine Resort! Bobby won silver in his age category in Slalom and will turn 80 years old this month. Bobby is a former Olympian that was on the Canadian National Team with Nancy Greene in the 1960s. He has continued to ski race ever since then. Way to go Bobby!
