Kootenay Swim Club swimmers competed in Salmon Arm from Feb. 9 to 11 at the Askew’s Shuswap Splash.

We travelled with a younger squad that was excited to race for best times and scoring as many points as possible. We came away from the meet with multiple best times and four medals for points totals between the age groups. Points were scored based on their results and rankings within each age group.

In the 10-and-under boys category we came away with two medals with Ty Dosenberger getting gold by scoring the most points in his age group with 153 points. Brooks Wilkinson wasn’t too far behind earning a bronze medal with 113 points.

Elle Faragher took home the gold in the 15-and-over girls category with 144 points while Christian Faragher won bronze in the 15-and-over boys category scoring 135 points.

That wasn’t all as swimmers were also trying to qualify for the upcoming North and Interior Divisional Championship. Cassie Dosenberger came into the meet with zero qualifying times but left the meet with five!

She will join nine other swimmers as we travel to Penticton for the North and Interior Divisional Championships happening from Feb. 23 to 25.
