Nelson Community Food Centre (NCFC) board and staff are excited to kick off their matching fundraising campaign this week.

A special volunteer at the NCFC started things off with a commitment to match any donation, dollar-for-dollar, that is made over the next one hundred days, up to $50,000. That adds up to a $100,000 campaign goal.

“We are touched and grateful to this individual for their significant contribution, and their vote of confidence in the NFCF,” said Andrew Creighton, interim executive director. “They appreciate the important role of our programs in the community.

“Good food for all is central to our organization’s vision for our community. We are looking for people to help us make the match and meet, or surpass, our campaign goal.”

NCFC has recently undergone a restructuring process that brought about staff changes and a reduction in some programs. All four programs (Good Food Bank, Harvest Rescue, Food Skills and Garden) are still running, just some with less capacity than usual.

With lots of hard work from the board, staff and volunteers, and support from organizations like the Nelson United Church and Community Food Centres Canada, NCFC are committed to returning their programs to regular frequency and capacity. The organization serves an essential role in feeding hungry people and making social, meaningful connections in our community.

If you’d like to support the NCFC and help us all make the match, please make a financial donation at nelsoncfc.ca. Just hit the donate button. Remember that thanks to the matching campaign, every dollar you donate will be doubled. For any information about the organization, the campaign, or why you should contribute, call Creighton at 250-551-0305.
