It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Eric F. Dawson our beloved husband, father and brother. Eric passed peacefully in the comfort of his home on June 29 surrounded by family. Predeceased by his father and mother Eric (Derry) and Thelma. Eric is survived by the love of his life, his wife Shelly, son Micheal, daughters Tina(Keith) and Jenna(Nathan). Sisters Julie and Catherine, brother Peter and grandchildren Trent and Karmen. As well as many extended family members and friends.

Eric was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia and lived in Victoria before settling in Nelson. He was a journeyman carpenter and proud member of CMAW and IATSE unions. He was very talented and skilled in so many areas of his trade and life in general. Eric enjoyed many summers at the the family cabin on Kootenay Lake and built a beautiful home nearby for his family. During his many years in Nelson he formed many life-long friendships and had a great impact on many people’s lives. Eric’s life was defined by love of his family, home and community. He accepted what came to him with his characteristic positivity, dignity and grace.

Eric is well loved by many and was an amazing soul. He had a profound love of life and enjoyed the wild ride. His absence will leave deep sorrow in the hearts of many.

A celebration of Eric’s life will be held
