Re: Nelson’s new transit exchange to be finished this summer, Feb. 29

In this article you inaccurately reported that “there ensued a two year back-and-forth with four local businesses and one resident worried about parking.” This is 100 per cent inaccurate.

The small business owners and residential property owners located on that block had many more substantial concerns beyond parking.

Clearly city council and the planning department completely ignored these concerns because the final plan is identical to the original plan, except for relocation the public washrooms.

I’m really disappointed and discouraged by the lack of respect the city has shown to the small business owners located on “fast-food corner” of Victoria Street, and to the private residences located adjacent to the new bus stops. It makes a laughing stock of the notion of stakeholder engagement.
