Re: “Against proportional representation” (Letters, Nov. 8)

Rod Retzlaff claims electoral reform employing proportional representation (PR) will lead to catastrophic consequences for Canada. Here is a brief list of countries that currently have PR governments: Germany, Switzerland, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Iceland and New Zealand. Which of these countries teeter on the brink of destruction? PR is the only way to properly represent the full complement of voter diversity in any country, and is therefore the most fundamentally democratic electoral system.
