LETTER: Why I’m voting for Mungall

Kim Charlesworth (Green Party) is a worthy candidate in a principled party. Tanya Wall (Liberal Party) is a successful hard-working local politician from the Creston area. Jesse O’Leary (Independent) is a bright young man, with a future in making change. Tom Prior (Independent) is a provocative, witty committed and experienced man.

However, I’m voting for Michelle Mungall in the upcoming provincial election. Here’s why. The current Liberal government has ignored child poverty (the worst provincial record in Canada); has talked about addressing climate change while betting entirely on LNG growth and pipelines that move tar sands products throughout the world (failing miserably on climate change); and has cemented their relationship with corporations and the wealthy, while more or less ignoring education, health care and young people.

The NDP is the only party that can beat the Liberals. Michelle is a hard-working, honest, experienced MLA. It’s time to get rid of the Liberals and the NDP can do it. The Greens are making gains, which I applaud, but they are not about to form the government. Michelle will serve this region (and the province) well as our Member – and even more so if the NDP forms government.
