UPDATED: Four election forums planned for Nelson

The series begins with Candi-dating on Oct. 4 at the Nelson Library

Nelson residents will have four opportunities to meet their municipal election candidates before election day.

Candi-dating

Members of the public can have a three-minute, one-on-one discussion with individual candidates of their choice. Then each candidate will summarize the most prominent issues that have been raised by the public.

Hosts: Social Planning Action Network (SPAN) and the Nelson Public Library

Location: Nelson library

Date: Thursday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m.

Mayoral Candidates Forum

Nelson’s two mayoral candidates will be questioned by broadcaster Glenn Hicks.

Host: Nelson and District Chamber of Commerce

Location: Prestige Lakeside Resort

Date: Saturday, Oct. 13, 7 p.m.

Wildfires and Climate Change Forum

Hosts: West Kootenay EcoSociety, Citizens’ Climate Lobby and Nelson Interfaith Climate Action Collaborative

Location: Nelson United Church

Date: Monday, Oct. 15, 7:30 p.m.

All Candidates Forum

Hosts: Canadian Federation of University Women and the Nelson and District Teachers’ Association

Location: Central School gym

Date: Tuesday, Oct. 16, 7 p.m.

There are 21 candidates for city council and three for mayor. Voting day is Oct. 20.
