Kaslo has been honoured by Heritage BC for its restoration of the City Hall building.
The building was initially constructed in 1898 and is a national heritage site. It underwent an eight-year renovation that was completed last year.
Heritage BC noted in a release Wednesday that the renos contributed energy efficient insulation and geothermal heating and air exchange to the home of the Village of Kaslo, Service B.C. and the district library.
“From the community’s point of view, this is absolutely top notch,” said the release. “This is a unique wooden city hall and one of the few that still remains in B.C. It is remarkable that a tiny place like Kaslo can bring it back from the brink and do it with high quality… and then continue to use it.”
Projects in Victoria and Vancouver were also among the Heritage BC honourees.
